Northwood Area Guide
Northwood, is located in the far north west corner of the London Borough of Hillingdon close to Rickmansworth. The area backs onto Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve (wherein lies Ruislip Lido) and which shares a northern border with the county of Hertfordshire. It has the advantage of containing three tube stations Moor Park, Northwood and Northwood Hills they are all positioned on the Metropolitan Line.
THE LOCAL SCENE
The area is complimented with a number of respected golf courses, including the Moor Park, Northwood, Haste Hill, Pinner Hill, Sandy Lodge and Batchworth Park Golf Clubs; there are also a number of leisure pursuits available including Northwood Health and Racquets Club operated by Virgin Active as well as a number of other gym’s and sports clubs. Northwood provides an excellent range of shopping facilities including Waitrose supermarket, a variety of restaurants and coffee shops
GETTING ABOUT
Metropolitan Line services from Northwood, Moor Park reach Baker Street in 35 minutes. The M40 is approximately 5 miles away and provides direct access to the M25 at Junction 16; Junction 18 is equidistant. The M1 lies a few miles to the east. Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stanstead Airports are all speedily accessible via the M25
SCHOOLS IN NORTHWOOD
Northwood’s schooling, both state and private, is highly regarded; the major draws include St Helen’s School and Northwood College for girls; and St Martin’s, St John’s and Merchant Taylors Schools for boys.
